Terms

The terms on which the house operates.

Short enough to read in one sitting, and written to be understood rather than survived.

What the house is

The Heirloom Hour is a private record-keeping and briefing service for households that host. It keeps a calendar of moments, the people in a circle, their taste and dietary needs, a record of gifts given and received, letters and briefs, and an archive of past celebrations.

The house is not an event planner, a booking agent, a gift shop, a stationer or a financial adviser. It does not act as your agent in any transaction.

We recommend and brief. You source and book.

Every recommendation the house makes is a brief, not an order and not a reservation. You, or your PA, source and book. No availability, allocation, price, vintage, provenance or delivery is confirmed, held or guaranteed by the house at any time.

Where a supplier, venue or maker is named, the name is given because it is real and relevant. It is not an endorsement, an agency relationship or a promise that anything can be obtained from them.

AI voices

The five voices are AI, and are labelled as such wherever they appear. They compose text from the context you have given the house. Every generated letter, card, toast and brief is disclosed as AI-assisted and is yours to review, edit or discard before it is used anywhere.

You are responsible for checking any factual claim before you rely on it, and for what you choose to send in your own name.

Membership and payment

Membership is offered at three levels: The Keepsake ($290, one-time), The House ($1,200 per year) and The Heirloom ($4,500, one-time for life). There are no monthly plans. Prices are stated in US dollars.

Allocation is confirmed in writing before any payment is taken. Where a payment link is issued, it is issued only after that confirmation. A place in the house is not held until the confirmation has been issued.

Renewal of The House is annual and is agreed in writing each year. The Keepsake and The Heirloom are one-time payments.

Physical goods and stationery

The house does not manufacture, print, pack, post or deliver anything. The Card Studio produces a printer-ready brief for your own stationer. The Gift Ledger briefs what to source. Any physical item is bought by you, or by your PA, from a supplier of your choosing.

Acceptable use

The house is a private record. You agree not to use it in the following ways.

  • To store another person’s sensitive data without their knowledge, beyond the ordinary notes a host keeps.
  • To compose letters or briefs intended to deceive, harass or impersonate a real person.
  • To copy, resell, sublicense or rebuild the house, its text or its structures.
  • To attempt to reach another member’s records, or to test the house’s security without written agreement.
Ownership and copyright

The text, structure, instruments and design of The Heirloom Hour are original works and remain the property of the house. They are protected under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and equivalent law, and unauthorised reproduction is pursued.

What you write and what the house writes for you is yours. You grant the house only the permission needed to store it and to work on it for you.

Limitation

The house is a record and a briefing service. It is not liable for a decision taken on the strength of a recommendation, for a supplier’s failure, or for an event that did not go as planned. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the current period of membership.

The house keeps its records carefully, but no system is infallible. Keep your own copy of anything you could not bear to lose — an export is available from account settings at any time.

Closing your account

You may export or purge your records from account settings without asking anyone. Purging is immediate and permanent. If you hold The Heirloom tier, a purge removes the archive as well.

Governing law

The law that governs these terms is confirmed in the allocation letter you receive before any payment is taken, together with the address to which any notice should be sent.
